School Closings

Should it become necessary to close or delay the start of school because of the weather, the Mayfield Independent School District will use various means to inform parents and guardians. As soon as a decision is made to close, delay the start, or dismiss school early due to inclement weather, notifications will be posted on the district’s Facebook and Twitter pages, and the new Mayfield Independent App. Mayfield Independent Schools will also use the mass notification call system to deliver automated phone calls to inform every household in the district of school announcements.  Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s school with any changes in phone numbers throughout the school year to ensure these calls are received. School officials will also notify radio and television stations by 6 a.m. the day of the delay or closing if at all possible. If a decision can be made the night before in case of snow or freezing conditions, an announcement of school closings will be made as early as possible.

Parents should not call schools, school officials, or radio and television stations, it is essential that telephone lines be kept open.
