As a Digital Learning Coach (DLC) and his years as a second and third grade teacher, he had the opportunity to guide hundreds of students while also working closely with parents and the community. Creating the successful STEM curriculum at MES has also given him the opportunity to develop programs working with budgets, purchases, and grants while aligning with district priorities.
In his role as CIO, Felts will lead and support the district’s technology staff, ensuring effective collaboration and professional growth as well as offer training and support to help teachers and staff use technology effectively in the classroom and beyond. His priorities include:
- Enhancing digital learning opportunities for students and teachers
- Strengthening cybersecurity measures to protect student and staff data
- Optimizing technology resources for greater efficiency and accessibility
Felts holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Murray State University and is completing his Rank 1 Continuing Education through the West Kentucky Educational Cooperative.
“I am excited to take on this new role and collaborate with educators, administrators, and staff to enhance student learning through technology,” said Felts. “My goal is to ensure that our district’s technology remains secure, accessible, and innovative while supporting the success of every student.”
He will succeed long-time district CIO Cheri Gossett, who will retire at the end of June.
